Virginia Sports Hall of Fame and Suffolk Auto Dealers’ Jump Start Program In Suffolk Public Schools

The Virginia Sports Hall of Fame Education Foundation and the Suffolk Automotive Dealers Association teamed up for the second consecutive year for the Jump Start program in Suffolk Elementary Schools. The Jump Start program is an educational resource program that focuses on different Virginia Standards of Learning strands and implements them with physical activity and math skills at the fourth and fifth grade level.

Jump Start engages students using kinesthetic learning involving physical activities while teaching math concepts such as equivalent fractions, elapsed time, number sense, place values, data collecting, money sense and geometry.

The individual car dealerships that participated in the Jump Start Program for its second year were Barton Ford Suffolk, Duke Automotive, First Team, Mike Duman Auto Sales and Starr Motors. Hillpoint Elementary, Nansemond Parkway, Booker T. Washington, Creekside, Oakland, Pioneer, Mack Benn Jr., Elephants Fork, Driver, Kilby Shores and North Shores all participated in the Jump Start Program.
