The ViBe Creative District announced that the public is welcome to participate in district-wide Small Business Saturday celebrations on Saturday, Nov. 24 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Small Business Saturday is a national movement to encourage holiday shopping at local small businesses the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Locally, the events are coordinated by ViBe’s resident think-tank collaborative coworking space 1701, while the ViBe Creative District nonprofit is hosting an outdoor pop-up Small Business Marketplace in ViBe Park.
This year’s event will feature live music, a community mural painting by local artist Rebecca McCurdy and activities for kids. This community-building event is supported by grants from the City of Virginia Beach Cultural Affairs Office and The Capital Group Companies.
Additionally, 23 small businesses will participate in a pop-up vendor market located at ViBe Park, which acts as the headquarters for ViBe District Small Business Saturday efforts. Vendors at the pop-up marketplace, located at the corner of 18th Street and Cypress Avenue, will be selling: fine art, sensory play items for kids, handcrafted jewelry, vintage clothing, ornaments, fairytale accessories, handmade soy candles, wire-wrapped seaglass, handmade soaps and scrubs, hand-decorated glassware and women’s swimwear. Brick and mortar stores throughout the ViBe District will also be offering specials and sales during the celebration.
