One of Coastal Virginia’s favorite coffee roasters is expanding to Norfolk in downtown’s new Assembly campus at 400 Granby St.

Three Ships Coffee began in Brad and Amy Ewing’s garage in 2013. Three Ships Coffee has only been available at their Virginia Beach ViBe District location, as well as select restaurants in the region. Much like it’s ViBe District location, the downtown Norfolk location will feature Three Ships’ locally roasted coffee with some elements exclusive to Norfolk.

Following delays due to the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, the Ewings are ready for this expansion.

“We’re focused on growing this year,” Brad said in a statement. “Originally, some of our growth would have happened last spring. We’ve built a team to handle this growth, and we are confident in what we are doing.”

Three Ships joins the growing list of creative tenants at Assembly, a historic, adaptive reuse development and the home for inspiring creators and technology innovators in downtown Norfolk. Three Ships will open a 2,000-square-foot coffee shop on the ground level of the space.

“We are planning the Norfolk coffee shop to be unique and sophisticated to match Assembly,” added Brad. “There’s so much synergy and inspiration out there, and we are just so proud that we have this level of support from local, home-grown companies that are world known.”
