EGGLESTON TO HOST 12TH ANNUAL OK5K AND 1-MILE RUN, WALK AND ROLL VIRTUALLY AT THE TIME AND PLACE OF YOUR CHOOSING FROM OCTOBER 2-9, 2021
Eggleston, a non-profit specializing in education, training, and employment opportunities for adults with disabilities in Hampton Roads, will host a virtual 12th annual OK5K and 1-Mile Run, Walk and Roll between Saturday, October 2, 2021 and Saturday, October 9, 2021.
Packet pick-up and walk-up registration will be on October 1, 2021, from 11 AM – 6 PM at Eggleston’s Corporate Offices, 5145 East Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, VA 23502. Due to Covid-19, this year’s event is being held virtually, so participants can run, walk or roll their race at the time and place of their choosing. Participants can also choose to run alone or form small groups.
Runners and walkers of all ability levels, families with strollers, wheelchair racers, and more are invited to participate. Participants are encouraged to take pictures before, during, or after their run and post them to Eggleston’s Facebook page.
The OK5K and 1-Mile Run/Walk is Eggleston’s only fund raising event that raises awareness for Eggleston’s mission and allows participants to make a difference while getting outdoors. Since 1955, Eggleston has provided meaningful training and employment opportunities, daytime recreation activities, and residential housing services to thousands of adults with disabilities.
Proceeds from the OK5K help support several services, like Eggleston’s Brain Injury Services, Warrior Bridge Veteran program, and Summer Camp at Civitan Acres. Brain Injury Services provides both case management services and a clubhouse model program that help those living with the effects of a brain injury reach their personal goals.
The Warrior Bridge program assists veterans with disabilities by connecting them to vital resources, services, and employment; and Eggleston’s Camp Civitan offers individuals the chance to have a life-changing experience, while giving their caregivers much-needed respite.
Those interested in participating or sponsoring the OK5K and 1-Mile Run/Walk should visit http://www.egglestonservices.org/OK5K/ or contact Kristen Ricks at 757-858-8011.
Eggleston is grateful to its presenting sponsor: Mancon, and all the other sponsors that make this annual event possible.
