DVS is Accepting Applications for Virginia Women Veteran Shark Tank

by CoVaBizMag

The Virginia Department of Veterans Services (DVS) is hosting their first ever Virginia Women Veteran Shark Tank competition as a major part of their 2019 Virginia Women Veterans Summit held May 16–17 in Hampton.

Between 2007 and 2011, the rate at which women veterans started their own businesses grew by 294 percent. DVS is celebrating this progress for self-employment among female veterans and spouses in 2019 with the Virginia Women Veteran Shark Tank competition.

Four finalists will pitch their businesses in front of a live audience of up to 800 attendees and three esteemed judges (“sharks”) from the business world. They will compete for $10,000 in cash prizes to help their businesses grow. The business must be owned by a female business owner or their spouse.

DVS is looking for those brave owners who feel they have the skills to navigate some shark-infested waters in front of a live audience for the opportunity to win cash and be recognized by other business owners from throughout Virginia.

The application deadline to make a pitch for Virginia Women Veteran Shark Tank is April 5. Apply here.
