Tarnished Truth Distilling Company
Known for their award-winning traditional craft spirits, the team at Tarnished Truth has created a refreshing take on the canned cocktail experience with their new range of beach-inspired Coastal Cocktails. Featuring their own handcrafted, premium spirits, each easy-drinking variety is infused with all-natural fresh fruit juices and just the right amount of fizz to make the beverage sparkle. Months were spent developing the bartender-approved flavor profiles to ensure a premium product. To meet increasing demand, the distillery recently opened a 25,000 square-foot production facility in Virginia Beach. The Vodka Cucumber Collins, with its citrus bite and hints of cucumber and mint, is reminiscent of a mojito, bringing to mind images of lazy summer afternoons, palm fronds and slowly circulating ceiling fans. For the holidays, consider a tour of the Tarnished Truth Distillery located in the historic Cavalier Hotel. It’s adjacent to the Hunt Room Tavern where you can enjoy an intimate dinner for two or book the Tasting Room for a festive winter gathering. While there, sample Tarnished Truth’s newest spirit, a wheated bourbon whiskey slyly named Discretion.

The Village Blacksmith
Tempered by decades of experience in welding, metal fabrication, heavy machinery repair and blacksmithing, George Cramer has established himself as one of Virginia’s premier smithies. From his workshop and forge in historic Gloucester, Cramer teaches the art and craft of blacksmithing, and fabricates custom pieces for commercial, residential and public arts-related clients. Cramer has appeared on the Discovery Channel’s series Master of Arms and on a National Geographic special where he helped re-create the heated projectile that sank the British Frigate HMS Charon during the Battle of Yorktown in 1781. In addition to offering accessories and gifts for the home, he creates hand-forged knives, metal cutout art and signage, iron railings and commemorative tree ornaments that honor the region’s hardworking watermen and women. For this season, Cramer has designed an ornament for Gloucester County, a tribute to the iconic, purpose-built deadrise boat that’s been a beloved part of Chesapeake Bay culture for generations. Check out Cramer’s tours, classes and calendar of events. The popular “Hot Date Night,” during which guests can learn about the craft and participate in the forging process, is only $70 per couple.
