Developers and dignitaries gathered on site in Newport News on Aug. 24 as W.M. Jordan Development Company broke ground for Building One @ Tech Center. The 80,000-square-foot building will be the first of many other buildings in the 50-acre research park situated at the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and Oyster Point.
“There is a tremendous interest in Building One @ Tech Center, and we have already secured multiple leases for tenants and have several more letters of intent pending,” said John Lawson, President and CEO of W.M. Jordan Company.
“This amazing park is directly aligned with ongoing efforts, including the Entrepreneur in Residence program at NASA-Langley, to commercialize cutting-edge technologies and drive translational research by providing a world-class location for discoveries to land and grow,” remarked Secretary of Technology Karen Jackson.
“Tech Center will create a collaborative environment and networking opportunities, ideal for entrepreneurs and others who wish to start or grow a business,” said Newport News Mayor McKinley Price. “This development will also advance the goal of strengthening the connection between the academic community and the private industry, and will promote the commercialization of Jefferson Lab and university research.”
Tenant Announcements for Tech Center have included Opready Inc. and J&F Alliance Group. W.M. Jordan Development Company is developing Tech Center Research Park with support from Virginia Tech and the City of Newport News. Learn more at TechCenterVa.com
