The Public Relations Society of America Hampton Roads Chapter will be hosting a workshop titled "Unconscious Bias? Not me! Yes, you!" with speaker Paula L. Bazemore on Oct. 16 at Cox Communications, located at 1341 Crossway Blvd., Chesapeake. The program aims to educate professionals in various industries who are interested in learning more about the topic. Registration is open to members of the PRSA, nonmembers and students.
This workshop is intended to provide local public relations professionals with the necessary tools for combating cultural blindspots and social stereotypes. It will also give a better understanding of the differences between diversity and inclusion as well as guide attendees on evaluating their conscious awareness.
Bazemore is the Hampton Roads Program Manager at the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities (VCIC), an organization that works with schools, businesses and communities to achieve success through inclusion. In her role, she serves as the link between VCIC and community partners through designing, facilitating and convening diversity and inclusion workshops.
