PerkinElmer, Inc., the global market leader in newborn screening that offers solutions that have tested over 600 million babies worldwide for life-threatening diseases, selected Williamsburg as the location for its annual sales and service meeting. PerkinElmer will continue the team’s 10-year tradition of including a corporate social responsibility event on the last day of the meeting by collaborating with the United Way of the Virginia Peninsula, Great Wolf Lodge, The Main Event by Emily, Teeny Tiny Farm and the RCTaylor Group to create a ‘once in a lifetime’ event for the children with life-threatening illnesses and families of Edmarc.
Edmarc’s programs are designed to ease the trauma of a child’s illness or death, and to reduce the disabling effects of pediatric illness, loss and bereavement on families within the region. Their work with early admission and in-home care has led to more healthy discharges than children who lose their battles.
On Jan. 23, over 75 children, 30 adults and 100 PerkinElmer volunteers will come together for Edmarc Day at Great Wolf Lodge. The event will include a free indoor carnival complete with fun foods, games and a petting zoo. Edmarc Day will create lasting memories for the hospice children, siblings and parents that they can cherish for a lifetime.
