by CoVaBizMag

Habitat of Humanity of South Hampton Roads (SHR) was recently announced as a 2020 Bank of America Neighborhood Builder. The nonprofit was selected for its work addressing issues fundamental to economic mobility in the community. Habitat for Humanity SHR received $2000,000 in grant support and an opportunity for engagement in virtual leadership training from experts in the nonprofit sector.

The Neighborhood Builders grant funds will be put to immediate and transformative use within Habitat for Humanity SHR, establishing a self-replenishing Land Acquisition Fund that will provide much-needed capital required to acquire land in the competitive Hampton Roads market. Additionally, the funds will be used to increase the organization's capacity to serve the South Hampton Roads community.

"This grant provides us the opportunity to move quickly when good buildable lots become available and to invest in our operations for long-term stability," said Frank Hruska, executive director for Habitat for Humanity SHR.
