Local BNI chapters, Peninsula Prosperity and Peninsula Professionals, joined forces in organizing a lunch that was donated to the more than 275 staff members at Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center in Norfolk. The lunch was prepared and delivered by Brian Marshall, personal chef and caterer, on Thursday, May 14.
The initiative started after Peninsula Prosperity members discovered that a friend and staff member at the center had put his home life on hold to remain at the hospital over the last six weeks, in an effort to care for patients and limit the risk of exposing his family to coronavirus.
Together, the BNI chapters felt they could contribute in a very minor way by doing something for everyone at the facility. DePaul is currently a testing center for COVID-19. With long hours and the risks posed day in and day out, the life of these frontline workers has become significantly more stressful. Providing a simple lunch in support of their hard work was an important act for each of the BNI chapters.
