757 Angels, a locally based angel networking group connecting entrepreneurs to investors, has been awarded $240,000 through the Go Virginia Grant program. Go Virginia funds were matched by member contributions as well as three cities: Norfolk, Virginia Beach and Hampton.
In the last four years, 757 Angels has raised $43 million for 21 companies resulting in the creation of 251 high paying jobs. 757 Angels is one of the largest angel networks in the country with 120 member/investors and is among the most active and engaged groups with 90 members investing in at least one company over the past four years. Just in last year, 757 Angels invested $14 million into five startup and early stage companies. Most of the raised capital remains in Coastal Virginia although the group will consider investment opportunities from across the commonwealth.
Go Virginia funding will allow “757 Angels to expand its operations to better serve member/investors and entrepreneurs across the Commonwealth,” according to Monique Adams, executive director of 757 Angels.
