What They Do: Armada Hoffler Properties is a vertically integrated, self-managed real estate investment trust that develops, builds, acquires and manages high-quality office, retail and multifamily properties. Armada Hoffler also provides general construction and development services to third-party clients while developing and building properties to be placed in its stabilized portfolio.
How They Help: Armada Hoffler Properties has been focusing on the community since they were founded in 1979. Their company’s exponential growth has given them the opportunity to give back in tremendous ways. While their company has a wide reach geographically, they are dedicated to making a community impact specifically in the local community. Armada Hoffler aims to make a difference in areas of extreme need in the community, and often employees bring these needs to the company’s attention. They also allow employees to take time out of the workday to help with initiatives they are passionate about.
Each year, Armada Hoffler participates in three local events through monetary contributions and employee volunteering. These events have included the Morning of Hope walk, ALS Walk, Lynnhaven River cleanup, Step Up for the Up Center and Cycle for Survival. The company has a history of donating over $150,000 annually to local charities. In 2018, Armada Hoffler partnered with the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore to donate $60,000 to compensate for donations that would have been collected from Farm Fresh before they closed. With Armada Hoffler’s contribution, the Foodbank surpassed their goal for total donations to provide meals for children and families in the region.
To our company, community impact looks like: lives changed. As we have grown, we are able to have a greater and greater impact on our community. This past year, we have been able to serve over 100 Thanksgiving dinners, provide almost 200,000 meals to the Foodbank and fill 50 backpacks full of school supplies to a local school, all of which may not have been met otherwise. In the past few years, we have been able to provide a local school with a brand new technology center as well. We aim to impact lives, not just help a short-term need.
