The popularity of mixed-use urban developments—incorporating planned office, retail and living spaces—appears to be holding strong around the region, and Chesapeake has gotten into the game with a big brand name in local business as its anchor. Phase 1 of the Summit Pointe development in the Greenbrier area, already completed, includes Dollar Tree’s gleaming new 12-story, 510,000-square-foot office tower and campus complex.
Phase 2 celebrated the opening of its first and second block in late 2020 with 555 Belaire, another office building; Helix, a 133-unit luxury apartment community with street-level retail; and the announcement of two tenants on the way—Wasserhund Brewing Company and Davis Law PLC.
“We are creating a lifestyle that benefits Dollar Tree associates and the community while establishing a new commercial center in the heart of Coastal Virginia,” noted Dollar Tree’s Executive Chairman Bob Sasser in a press release for the most recent ribbon cutting.
Next up is the third block of Phase 2, which will be a commercial/residential development called Mosaic. Construction begins this February with delivery of the first commercial and residential units expected by mid-2022.
