SNJB Hosts 5th Annual Commuters Care Food Drive

by CoVaBizMag

The South Norfolk Jordan Bridge (SNJB) kicked of its fifth annual Commuters Care Food Drive as the bridge staff encourages drivers to donate canned and non-perishable food items towards a goal of 500 combined pounds.

Now through the month of February, donations are accepted at the SNJB Operations Office at 3815 Bainbridge Blvd., Chesapeake on weekdays from 9:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. and 1:30–4:30 p.m. At the end of February, all food collected will be donated to the Food Pantry of Oasis Social Ministry in Portsmouth. Since 1970, Oasis has provided comprehensive services to the homeless and less fortunate in Portsmouth, western Chesapeake and northern Suffolk.

Each item donated earns a free entry into drawings to win one of 10 $50 Virginia E-ZPass Reload Cards. During the month of January, all donors are eligible for a bonus prize of a pair of reserved tickets to the Virginia Opera’s The Elixir of Love at Harrison Opera House during Valentine’s Day weekend. There is no limit on the number of entries per person, but individuals are only eligible to receive one E-ZPass Reload Card award. Prize drawings will be held by March 31, and winners will be notified by phone and email.
