With their private dining accommodations, River Stone Chophouse is an amazing venue for gatherings with family and friends as well as corporate events, business luncheons, receptions, board meetings and more.
They offer four different private dining rooms on the second floor of the restaurant. The Oak Park Room can seat 64 guests, the Robie Room can seat 32, the Wright Room can seat 22 at one large table and the Taliesin Room is a more intimate space for up to 14 guests. However, all of the walls to each room can be opened to make one large reception area for up to 130 seated guests or standing social events for 150–170 attendees. There’s also a second-floor kitchen that specifically caters to private events.
“Our facilities are so much nicer than a typical hotel ballroom,” says Kati Newman, private events coordinator for River Stone Chophouse. “You’re actually going into rooms that have beautiful décor with dark wood, private bars in each room, light jazz music in the background and lights that dim. We have state-of-the-art audio/visual equipment, too. So, there’s really something for everyone because of the different sizes of the rooms that each provide a very intimate ambiance for any type of event.”
River Stone Chophouse is Coastal Virginia’s premier chophouse. It is the only restaurant in the area that ages Hereford Beef and custom cuts their steaks in-house. The most popular cut is the 22-ounce, dry-aged, bone-in ribeye, although fresh seafood—like Scottish salmon, Maine lobster or seafood plateaus with a variety of fresh shellfish included—is also a crowd pleaser.
River Stone Chophouse is part of M&M Hospitality—a family of restaurants that also includes Vintage Tavern, located at 1900 Governors Pointe Drive in Suffolk, and Decoys Seafood located at the Bennett’s Creek Marina, 3305 Ferry Road in Suffolk. Vintage Tavern also features fine food and wine with private dining areas available, while Decoys is more casual for family gatherings or reunions.

River Stone Chophouse is located at 8032 Harbour View Blvd. in Suffolk. Their lounge opens at 3 p.m., Monday through Friday and at 5 p.m. on Saturdays. The dining room opens at 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Sunday brunch is served from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For private affairs, the restaurant can accommodate both lunch and dinner events.
