Retail Alliance Foundation Hosts Pitch Event for Entrepreneurs

by CoVaBizMag

Up to 10 entrepreneurs are presenting their business plans to a panel of experts at Center for Retail Excellence's Minnow Bucket pitch event on Sept. 11 at Percolator in Norfolk. For the first time, this event will be open for the public to attend and support those presenting.

"At the Center for Retail Excellence, we want to make sure that the student entrepreneurs who go through our Certificate of Retail Operations have the tools, resources and confidence needed to succeed with the launch of their business idea," said Michelle Ellis Young, director of education for Retail Alliance Foundation. "The Minnow Bucket is an educational opportunity for these students to present their business plans to a small group of outside experts for review and feedback. It is the culminating assignment for successful completion of the course of study."

Minnow Bucket events are held with three objectives in mind:

  • To provide participants the opportunity for an outside, objective evaluation of their business and the premise(s) on which they plan to build them.
  • To enable participants to participate in a “dry run” of presenting their business plans as they would in the “real world.”
  • To give specific feedback that will be helpful to participants in adjusting or modifying their business plans.
