The Hampton Roads Workforce Council and the City of Norfolk Department of Development have partnered for the second year to host the three-part Biz Café event series located in the Huntersville Neighborhood Service Center at 830 Goff St. in Norfolk. The event aims to create more opportunities for entrepreneurs and aspiring business owners in underserved areas of Norfolk.
New and existing businesses will receive information on developing a business plan, crafting the perfect pitch and transitioning from employee to entrepreneur. The Biz Café will also offer financial, legal, accounting, marketing and technical assistance to aspiring business owners. Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to compete in a Pitch Competition, during which five winners will be awarded $1,500 in seed money. The Pitch Competition is funded by SunTrust Bank’s “Lighting the Way” grant. While Part I of the Biz Café event series was held on May 1, Part II will be held on Thursday, May 16 from 6–8 p.m. and Part III will be held on Thursday, May 30 from 6–8 p.m.
