Community Impact Awards Reception 2017

by Ryan Miller

On Nov. 2, Coastal Virginia Magazine and CoVa Biz honored nonprofit organizations featured in the 6th Annual Giving Back Awards and businesses that give back featured in the Community Impact Awards at a special reception at Virginia MOCA in Virginia Beach.

Community Impact Award winners were chosen through nominations based on their effect on the community through innovative work programs, employee volunteering and creative business models that promote the social health of the community.

Guests struck a pose in front a green screen provided by Premier Events, while Sweetwater Cuisine catered Southern-style culinary eats. Cupcakes were also prepared from Sweet Haven Baked Goods, a bakery whose proceeds benefit Help And Emergency Response, Inc. (H.E.R.) Shelter. An awards presentation was held in the museum’s theater recognizing the Giving Back and Community Impact winners, with H.E.R. Shelter being named this year’s Giving Back Awards’ number one nonprofit.

Proceeds gathered from drink donations during the evening will benefit H.E.R. Shelter. A special thanks to our sponsors, Old Point National Bank, Howard Hanna and Premier Events. Congratulations to all of our winning nonprofits giving back and businesses making an impact in the community!

Community Impact award winners will be featured in the upcoming December/January issue of CoVa Biz.
